Overview
The Conversion Supervisor is responsible for leading one of our conversion crews in a safe and efficient manner under the direction of Conversion Managers. The Supervisor is responsible for setting areas at our venue including Central Bank Center, Rupp Arena and The Lexington Opera House. This includes staging, chairs, linens, platforms, pipe and drape and other necessary equipment for our clients. The Supervisor will be responsible for training, planning for and overseeing Conversion Crew members.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $20 to $24.

Responsibilities • Supervises and assists full-time and part-time work crews in the set-up and strike before, during and after events to include setting stages, tables, chairs, carpet, pipe and drape, risers, etc., and operation of equipment and maintaining supplies needed for events. • Assists in orienting, instructing and training new and existing employees in the areas of proper event set-up and tear-down, proper storage of supplies, equipment maintenance, daily time logs, proper vehicle use, etc. • Must have the ability to properly operate a forklift, aerial lift and other equipment typically used in this type of work. Additionally, must be able to be certified, under OSHA guidelines, to operate designated equipment. • Confirms the readiness of all areas prior to an event to ensure cleanliness/accuracy as defined in the event sheet or standard department protocol. • Provides direction to the Crew with event set-up/changeover activities in accordance with the event sheet. • Coordinates and assists in receiving, storing, shipping and accounting of in-bound freight. • Supervises the work activities of contract labor and temporary agency personnel. • Assists in interviewing, selecting and recommending suitable candidates for employment. • Assists in the performance review process and disciplining of staff assigned to their specific group. • Assists in preparing weekly staff schedule and directs the staff with event set-up/tear-down activities in accordance with the calendar of events. • Oversees assigned event set-up/tear-down activities. • Assists with employee OSHA/Safety training, i.e. General Safety, Blood borne Pathogen, Forklift Operation, Personal Protective Equipment, Hazardous Communication, etc. • Must be willing to work flexible hours, nights, weekends and holidays when required. • Assists in performing administrative and other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
Qualifications
Two or more years of experience performing task similar or related to the set-up/tear-down activities in the operation of an Arena or Convention Center.
Job Knowledge, Skills, Other Requirements/Equipment, Tools or Machinery: • Must have proven supervisory and leadership skills. • Must have good organizational planning skills. • Must be able to coordinate and handle several tasks concurrently. • Must have strong interpersonal and problem solving skills. • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing. • Assists in orienting, instructing and training new and existing employees. • Must be able to read and understand event sheets and corresponding floor plans. • A working knowledge of event set-up/strike procedures. • Must be accessible by personal telephone or a contact number.
Physical Requirements: • Requires a full range of body motions including vision and hearing in a normal range. • Frequently works under stressful working conditions, irregular hours and tight time deadlines. • May periodically climb to elevated locations in the building complex. • Job requires the following physical movements and functions: o Standing, Walking, Lifting, Carrying: 85% o Repetitive Stooping, Bending, Climbing: 15% o Weights involved in routine lifting: 15 to 50 lbs. occasionally more
