HDR is looking for a Coastal intern to join our Water Resources team in Walnut Creek, CA office. Our team is growing and has a range of challenging and innovative projects. We work within multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to coastal resiliency, coastal vulnerability assessment, coastal flooding and coastal erosion modeling, compound coastal/fluvial flooding, climate change modeling, and ensemble and statistical analysis. In the role of Coastal Intern, we'll count on you to: Offer real-world experience on exciting projects Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications

B.Sc. degree in Coastal, Ocean, Civil Engineering (Hydraulics, Geotechnical, or Water Resources), or Environmental Engineering. Highly preferred: pursuing M.Sc. Degree in Coastal/Ocean Engineering or in Oceanography Prefer at least 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA Excellent verbal and written communication skills Background in wave mechanics, littoral processes and sediment transport Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry with background in coastal hydrodynamic and morphodynamic models such as: XBeach, SWAN, MIKE 21, Delft3D, and USACE models. Data analysis skills including the application of Matlab, Python, etc. Required Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills Basic Microsoft Office skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
