Job Description

***The Department of Corrections is currently offering a hire incentive bonus of up to $15,000.00 to newly hired

Mental Health Clinician 3 . The incentive bonus will be paid in two equal installments, minus mandatory deductions. The first installment will be paid 90 calendar days after the first day of employment, and upon demonstrating an overall mid-acceptable performance rating. The second and final installment will be paid upon the employee's successful completion of the probationary period. Payments will be due within sixty (60) calendar days of such request. To receive an incentive, employees are expected to agree to a three-year term of employment with the Department of Corrections.***

The Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Mental Health Clinician 3 position located in Palmer, Alaska.

What you will be doing: Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Mental Health Officer, this position will: Coordinate mental health services for inmates housed at Palmer Correctional Center and Mat-Su Pretrial facility. Develop, implement, and maintain treatment plans for inmates assigned to caseload. Conduct diagnostic screenings and risk assessments of referred inmates through the evaluation of existing history, prior psychological testing, clinical observations, and direct interviews. Supervise the location's mental health staff, including appointments, evaluations, and training. The working environment you can expect: This position oversees the mental health programming needs at the Palmer Correctional Center, a secure facility for incarcerated male offenders, and the Mat-Su Pretrial facility. This position will be expected to have on-site presence at each location to address and respond to the mental health needs of each facility and work closely with a team of correctional officers, mental health clinicians and medical staff.
