Ravenscroft is an independent, coeducational day school in Raleigh, NC, with approximately 1,250 students in grades PreK-12.

We are looking for an experienced student development and college counseling professional to join our College Counseling team and the Ravenscroft community of educators that actively strive to be diverse, equitable and inclusive. Our candidates should demonstrate empathy, knowledge and an understanding for the diverse backgrounds in our community; place an importance on genuine and authentic connections with students, faculty, staff and parents; be able to work collaboratively with team members of diverse backgrounds; and have the capacity to model an attitude of unyielding curiosity and a growth mindset.

Position Details:

11-month position Flexible scheduling of 30 hours per week during school days, based on mutual agreement; hours may shift for professional development days Eligible for benefits, including tuition remission Position will have a negotiable/flexible start date up to and no later than August 4, 2025 Review of applicant materials will begin in January 2025 Reports to : Co-Directors of College Counseling

The successful candidate will be an experienced educator who displays a passion for student growth and development and an eagerness to help students explore their interests and aptitudes beginning in 9th grade.

Other responsibilities and competencies include:

Support 9th and 10th grade students with an individualized personal development plan, accomplished in individual, small-group, and large-group meetings, that aligns with Ravenscroft's mission to "nurture individual potential and prepare students to thrive in a complex and interdependent world" Work with faculty advisors to support academic and course planning for 9th and 10th grade students Contribute to all existing College Counseling programming and office responsibilities and work with the 9th and 10th grade class deans on advisory programming Comfort with speaking before large groups Demonstrating effective technology skills, including the ability to use our learning management and college information systems (Veracross, Canvas, and SCOIR) Demonstrating cultural competence and the ability to connect with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and parents Demonstrating a growth mindset and the ability to receive feedback, adapt to different learners' needs, and become a valued colleague in a strong and cohesive department Experience supporting social emotional learning inside and outside of the classroom; an eagerness and ability to support our Lead From Here curriculum Participating in other aspects of the School community as desired by the candidate (i.e. athletics, committees, etc.) Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Education, Counseling or other applicable field is highly desirable. Experience with high school academic advising and/or college admission counseling is required. Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of the college counseling experience. Familiarity with college information platforms, such as SCOIR, Naviance, or Maia Learning, and with the PrinciplesYou assessment are valued. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect authentically with students, faculty, staff, and parents. Demonstrated empathy and understanding for the diverse backgrounds present in the Ravenscroft community.
