Role Summary:

We are seeking a Staff Software Test Engineer, to design, implement, and test embedded software for Cariad's automotive infotainment platform software. The ideal candidate is a high achiever who thrives on exploring uncharted territories, challenging the status quo, and championing new ideas. As a member of CARIAD's technical team, you will also interface with multiple stakeholders of VW Group's technical team members.

Role Responsibilities:

Automated Test Script Development

Architect and develop automation test scripts for embedded applications Create automated script package Create and maintain docker for automation execution Create test automation execution pipleines for CI/CD

Test Execution and Test Result Management

Perform test execution for functional, performance Define and execute stress testing for embedded applications Review and publish test result

Test Planning and Test Management

Develop and maintain test plan Manage test case management system Create and update test execution plan Automate test planning and test execution plan Debug and resolve bugs with development team

Software Test Pipeline Development

Define and implement automate software test pipeline Integrate test pipelines in development workflow

Collaboration and Communication

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and program management teams. Communicate project status, technical challenges, and solutions in a clear and concise manner.

General Skills:

Analytical and debugging skills. Effective written and oral communication skills. Experience in project and technical leadership. Ability to lead technical meetings and provide feedback. Collaborate and work with multiple teams across geographies and time zones. Required Specialized Skills:

Experience with automotive communication protocol CAN, DOIP, Ethernet Experience with automotive application protocol UDS, SomeIP Experience with interface communication protocols USB, UART, SPI, I2C Experience with networking tools CANoe, PCAN, Wireshark, PacketSender Experience with Android CTS testing and Monkey testing Expert in designing automation framework with data analytics Expert in test management tool such as TestRail, Xray Expert in developing system/subsystem test plans and reports Desired Skills:

Experience with Yocto Linux Experience with ISO 26262 or other safety standard testing Experience with log analysis for anomaly detection Experience using Generative AI or Large Language Models (LLM) to improve software test efficiency and quality Workplace Flexibility:

Calls, (virtual) meetings & workshops (overlapping with German/US business hours as needed) to align with leadership, development teams and partners. Occasional international and domestic travel to provide on-site support and planning/integration workshops with our internal and external stakeholders. Years of Relevant Experience:

8+ years working as a Software Validation, System Test Lead 8+ years experience in Python Pytest 8+ years experience with Embedded Linux, Android application testing 4+ years experience in automation framework development 4+ years experience with Docker Container, Jenkins Required Education:

BS in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering Desired Education:

MS in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

Compensation

Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, credentials or certifications, industry-based experience, qualification and training. In the city of Mountain View, California, the salary range for this position is $157,000 - 219,667.
