JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Lead and manage the maintenance team and ensure a high level of employee productivity while managing departmental resources within and not exceed yearly/monthly official budget and effectively support an efficient production operation. Ensure maintenance activities align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives. Provide technical support to maintenance technicians and management. Ensure technicians are properly trained in welding, electrical wiring methods, calibration of instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLC), variable frequency drives (VFD's), electrical power transmission, mechanical power transmission, interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and schematics, boiler/steam operations, water analysis and treatment, mechanical refrigeration equipment and controls, coders / labelers, effective trouble shooting of equipment, and safe work habits. Provide electrical and mechanical technical support on existing and new equipment. Manage and oversee Capital Projects within the facility if operations oriented. Required to have knowledge of HACCP.
Manage the implementation of the Work Order/Purchasing/Spare Parts Inventory system (MVP). Ensure work/parts usage is properly documented in MVP. Review usage and procurement of spare parts and set appropriate on-hand inventory levels. Ensure appropriateness of equipment PMs and calibrations in scope and frequency. Write/create/implement/monitor/audit all procedures needed within the Maintenance/Parts department.
Support and take an active role in the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System. Understand my role in food safety and regulatory responsibilities as required by the SQF Food Safety Code and report any food safety concerns to initiate appropriate action. Must have the knowledge and understanding of writing and reviewing all procedures and policies within the operations/maintenance department and implement those procedures and policies. Actively participate and support the 5S and MES initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ITEM % OF TIME JOB FUNCTIONS 1. 20% Provide technical expertise to support all areas of plant operation. Research and study operational processes and identify improvement opportunities to increase equipment processes and identify improvement opportunities to increase equipment uptime and overall OEE. Develop a comprehensive cross training program within the maintenance department to increase knowledge base. Prepare training budget for department personnel on an annual basis. 2. 20% Implement a comprehensive PM program to achieve predictive maintenance to reduce line downtime. Coordinate meetings to address plant operational issues. Communicate and interact with the team, other departments and with external suppliers and vendors. 3. 20% Research, study and understand processes and identify improvement opportunities. Improving production processes by eliminating causes of in-process losses including but not limited to labor/materials/product/downtime. Maintaining maintenance database (MVP), including vendor files, spare parts data, Work Orders, inventories, and equipment histories. Manage spare parts inventory. Manage and Oversee Capital Projects within the department.
4. 10% Planning and scheduling plant maintenance personnel to limit unnecessary downtime and overtime and stay within, not to exceed monthly budget. 5. 15% Developing and defining process improvement projects including all Capital Projects within the operations arena. Use of contractors and bidding process and to not incorporate internal labor of maintenance work force into project scope. 6. 10% Perform maintenance duties as needed in time of emergencies and unknown downtimes to prevent financial losses to company. 7. 5% Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Director of Operations. Education Level and Focus: BA in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with an emphasis on business, production, facility maintenance or engineering preferred
Years and Type of Related Experience Required: At least 5 years industrial maintenance with process analysis and problem-solving experience. 2-5 years in supervisory role leading skilled employees in a challenging production environment

Required to have knowledge of HACCP.
Administrative and Operations: Strong writing skills, organizational and planning skills.
Physical Demands: Walking, standing for long periods, travel (flying/driving), calls after work hours, ability to work various shifts, bending, stooping, reaching, lift 50+ lbs., work in confined areas
Work Environment: Food plant, high noise levels, frequent interruptions, cold hot and humid conditions, wet floors, forklift, and pedestrian traffic. This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Special Equipment Used: Various hand tools, machining tools, forklift and welding equipment, electrical testing equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
