WHO WE ARE:
Horizons at Hemlock Overlook brings four decades of experience delivering excellent outdoor learning and team development experiences to a unique meeting and retreat venue-400 acres of quiet, beautiful woods just 30 miles west of downtown Washington, DC.
We are seeking a
Camp Director
at our
Horizons at Hemlock Overlook , to provide oversight and leadership to Horizons Summer Camp Operations with primary responsibilities focused on: camp marketing, recruitment and onboarding of staff, camp administration, and parent communications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Work in conjunction with the Customer Service and Marketing teams to ensure enrollment goals are met or exceeded and participating in but not limited to:
Home shows Camp fairs Open Houses Site tours
Regularly review, improve and develop program offerings for Camp Horizons Hire, train and coach Horizons summer camp staff Provide ownership and oversight to the International Staff recruiting, visa, and onboarding processes. Assist with overall camp administration operations to include but not limited to:
Properly log behavioral, employee, and medical incidents according to the ACA and Camp Policies Plan, schedule and lead camp staff training. Provide oversight and accountability to Camper Care operations ensuring that our medical protocols and documentation procedures are followed. Ensure compliance with ACA policies and procedures Participate in and support Director of OLC in training and onboarding Work in conjunction with Director OLC to develop, improve and review program and activity curriculum for the OLC Programs
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
5+ years outdoor recreation experience or camp management/administration preferred Experience working with children preferred Bachelor's Degree in a related field 5+ years' experience teaching/working with children and leading outdoor adventure or environmental education programs Documented experience in a supervisory role Valid Virginia State Driver's License Basic First Aid and CPR Wilderness First Responder certification preferred Valid lifeguard certification ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Seasonal full time (12 weeks) as needed in winter and spring, program development Mid-May - Mid August - Salary $8,000 - $12,000 based on experience Working with program director to develop new program location; align with camp programming that exists at Camp Horizons Program provided to Kids ages 6-10 y/o located in Northern VA: 1 week model with Friday and Saturday evenings off. On-site housing available (must live locally or on-site during summer)
