Commercial & Government Fleet General Manager
will lead the development and management of a growing multi-brand commercial fleet department at Mills Automotive Group in Charlotte, NC. This role will oversee fleet operations and drive success in the commercial fleet sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive retail, commercial fleet management, and expanding customer accounts across multiple brands. Experience in Government Fleet sales and contract development is highly desirable. Key responsibilities include building and managing a commercial fleet sales team, creating and executing commercial strategies, collaborating with dealership general management, and cultivating relationships with key clients and partners. This position is critical in achieving revenue goals, optimizing fleet performance, streamlining processes, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction. What You Will Do – Essential Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic commercial fleet plans to drive revenue growth and market expansion. Lead and manage a growing fleet sales team, providing guidance, support, and motivation to achieve sales targets. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the automotive fleet sector, including corporate clients and other major commercial business. Expand the newly established government fleet department while further developing and securing state contracts. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and key stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and retention. Collaborate with internal corporate function areas to align commercial strategies with business objectives. Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities and threats, adjusting strategies accordingly. Order commercial inventory and be familiar with required stocking levels to ensure meeting market demand and turning inventory properly to prevent aging inventory. Oversee the development of pricing strategies, proposals, and contracts to maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the market. Monitor and evaluate fleet performance metrics, including sales performance, customer acquisition, and retention rates, implementing corrective actions as needed. Stay updated on industry regulations, technological advancements, and best practices in automotive fleet management to drive innovation and efficiency. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and expand business connections. We Invite You To Apply – Key Qualifications & Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred. Solid experience in commercial sales, automotive fleet management, and government fleet management, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role. Proven record of effectively leading and inspiring sales teams to attain sales goals while delivering exceptional customer service. Key experience in government sales and state contract development and fulfillment. A strong knowledge of the Ford Pro CVC Program, including annual compliance requirements and execution. Strategic thinker with a track record of driving commercial success. Knowledge of automotive industry trends, regulations, and best practices in fleet management across multiple brands. Customer-centric mindset and deep passion to create long-standing partnerships. Highly collaborative and team-oriented.
