School counselors are licensed educators with a minimum of a Master's degree in School Counseling and are uniquely qualified to address the academic, career, and personal/social needs of all students. By designing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive school counseling program, school counselors serve to promote and enhance student success.
* Active license with the Virginia Department of Health & Virginia Department of Education (VDOE)
* New Grads are welcomed to apply as well as experienced counselors.
* Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm.
* School year 2024 - 2025
The School Counselors' primary purpose is to advocate for the student; School Counselors adhere to the standards for school counseling programs in Virginia Public Schools and to the American School Counselor Association's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice The School Counseling Program is a critical component within the school system and is integral to the academic, personal/social, and career development and progress of each student; The School Counseling Program helps build a positive school environment by encouraging collaboration among counselors, teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, and the community to further student achievement; The School Counseling program is inclusive, culturally competent, and developmentally appropriate to help support all students; The School Counseling Program is in alignment with the American School Counselor Association Model (ASCA); The comprehensive School Counseling Program is continuously refined and improved through systemic review and evaluation of data.
