Overview
Ropes & Gray is seeking a proposal specialist to join the proposal team, which is an important part of the global marketing and business development department. The proposal specialist will work closely with the proposals manager to provide direct support to multiple business development teams. The role will involve developing high-quality external business development materials, including pitches, proposals and responses to RFPs. The role will also involve establishing project timelines and protocols, and coordinating input from subject matter experts to ensure outstanding client service while drafting, editing, and finalizing proposal materials.
Responsibilities
Prepare and project manage the delivery of proposals, pitches, other customized materials, and single practice area RFP responses (as assigned), from receipt to post-submittal, by working closely with members of the business development and marketing teams, as well as other administrative functions including, pricing, DEI and general counsel's office as needed. Support firmwide development and delivery of RFP responses which includes managing the intake of incoming firmwide RFPs/RFIs/RFQs and customized proposals, analyze all proposal documentation and initiate response protocol. Support the proposals manager as a secondary proposal professional on high-profile, multi-practice, and preferred panel provider RFP responses, as assigned. Adhere to the proposal team processes to ensure all data gathering and processing for the firm's proposals and pitches are accurate, consistent, and submitted timely. Additionally, work to refine and improve processes over time. Work with proposals manager to monitor and maintain the proposal team's existing resources and knowledge management systems, including the proposal intake log, proposals database, and proposal generator system to streamline proposal efficiencies and ensure content and data is updated. Work with the proposals manager to track and report business development marketing efforts and report pitch outcomes. Regularly audit materials and work closely with members of business development and practice development to update, maintain, and manage firm business development assets, such as practice and industry overviews and descriptions, experience information, and other tailored content used in proposals. Act as a subject matter expert for the firm's proposal processes, tools, and content while promoting best practices throughout all stages of an opportunity. Work with the proposals manager to support additional proposal team business development projects and initiatives as necessary. Essential Capabilities

Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years business development or marketing experience Prior law firm or professional services experience preferred Prior proposal and RFP experience preferred Prior Foundation, Content Pilot, or other content management system and proposal generator tool experience preferred Excellent organizational, communication and project management skills Proficiency in business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
Boston: $70,500-$107,550
New York: $73,900-$112,650
Working Conditions
This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. This role would require being in office 4 days a week and would be able to work remotely one day. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
