Position Summary KEA Technologies Inc. is currently seeking an Embedded Hardware Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for product/project design, development, and hands-on support; writing specifications and requirements documents, and identifying resources required to ensure successful designs. You will bring your proficiency in analog design, mixed-signal electronics and electronics systems development, systems integration, and laboratory and operational testing. You will have ownership and responsibility for overseeing aspects of prototype fabrication and low-rate production build providing technical support and monitoring schedule status. You will assumeresponsibility for results-based deliverables in direct support of the company’s exciting initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities Apply fundamental engineering concepts to solve complex, novel, and unfamiliar problems
Design sensor interfaces and signal conditioning solutions to meet customer requirements
Take initiative and innovate to generate technical value and achieve business goals
Influence positive outcomes through clear and concise communication of complex information to peers, managers, and customers
Conduct PCB design activities such as schematic & layout capture software (Altium preferred), fabrication, assembly, and lead associated design reviews with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Execution of electrical and EMC testing based upon various standard specifications (SAE, ISO, CE, UL, etc.), analyze data and prepare test reports
Continuously improve the design process by ensuring best practices and tools are evaluated and used
Develop creative solutions to problems through collaboration with engineers from other disciplines
Identify and mitigate technical design risks
Overcome obstacles and tenaciously drive to meet deadlines
Communication and documentation of design elements for internal and external customers
Qualifications and Requirements B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (completed prior to start date) with 3+ years of industry experience
Experience with sensor interface systems, optical interfaces and equipment, communications equipment and systems, controls equipment, power conditioning and electrical distribution systems is desired
Proficiency in PCB and layout design (Altium preferred) including layer stack up, signal integrity analysis, power distribution, and designing for EMC robustness
Familiarity with traditional manufacturing methods and processes for electronic and electromechanical assemblies.
Experience with automotive EMC design, test methods, and troubleshooting per CISPR25, ISO, and SAE standards
Experience with the design, analysis, and simulation of analog and digital circuits
Knowledge on the hardware design and engineering process, including board bring-up – prototyping, fabrication, assembly, and soldering
Proficiency with C/C++, MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW for automation and data processing is preferred
Experience with embedded software – writing software code, defining system architecture and troubleshooting is a plus
Familiarity with hardware protocols including CAN, LIN, USB, UART, I2C, and SPI
Possess excellent troubleshooting skills to efficiently identify and resolve design and production issues during all phases of product development.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, team environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results.
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Familiar with document controls, revision control and change process.
Must be committed to upholding the highest standards of quality of work and personal safety in the lab.
Candidate must be comfortable in conceptual as well as hands on design and integration
Familiarity with the auto industry is preferred but not required.
Travel Required: Occasional ( Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
