Onsite After-Hours Advocate - Living Onsite

CAPSA, Logan, Utah, us, 84322

CAPSA is a nonprofit organization with a mission to prevent domestic abuse, provide shelter and support services, and promote healing and self-sufficiency among survivors. At CAPSA, we believe that every individual deserves to live free from violence and fear. We are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive community where survivors can find solace, rebuild their lives, and thrive.

This position includes on-site housing as part of the compensation package, allowing you to be available and responsive when survivors need it most.

The schedule for this position is Sunday night through Thursday night and can be done from your apartment here at our office. As an

After-Hours Advocate , you will play an integral role in fulfilling our mission to provide shelter, advocacy, and support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. This vital role is often the first point of contact our survivors have with CAPSA.

Your responsibilities will include answering the crisis line and entering all calls into our tracking database system, preparing rooms for new shelter clients with bedding, towels, hygiene necessities, and Heart Knit Kits, helping new shelter clients with the check in process, and conducting the exit process according to established procedures.

You will also interact with residents as needed, helping to calm and reassure them, acting as a "sounding board," and mediating problem situations. You will collect and return keys as clients leave and return to shelter and record all substantial interactions with residents in the current client database tracking system.

In addition, you will attend monthly after-hours meetings and other trainings, provide feedback and suggestions about practices that create a comfortable environment for survivors.

As an organization CAPSA looks to always be learning and able to provide the best and most informed services possible. In this position you will get to participate in our 40-hour Advocacy training as well as complete annual trainings thereafter helping you to grow individually and benefit our community.

Ultimately, your work as an After-Hours Advocate will help us to achieve our vision of a world with empowered survivors, safe homes, and children living without fear. We are working every day toward our ultimate goal of ending domestic violence in our community, and we hope that you will join us in this important mission.
