Demand Planning and Procurement Director
in our Distribution Center located in
Santa Fe Springs, CA . In this role, the Director of demand planning and procurement will be responsible for developing the demand planning, procurement, and inventory strategies in accordance with the overall supply chain strategy. He/She/They will work directly with senior management from Operations, Sales, Finance, and Sourcing, and provide leadership and direction on a cross-functional basis to ensure optimum inventory and supply levels to meet margin targets, financial objectives, and customer service requirements. They must maintain deep knowledge and expertise in the dynamics of the current trends related to the market, our competitors, our customers, and our historical data across all sales channels to direct our inventory and purchasing to respond to changing market requirements, service and financial goals. The responsibilities outlined below are representative of the essential duties and tasks expected for this role; however, additional duties may be assigned as necessary to meet the needs of the organization. Responsibilities Leads and develops a team of demand planning, procurement, and inventory management experts to achieve departmental goals. Mentors the team in how to utilize advanced forecasting, replenishment, and inventory optimization tools and techniques to analyze data and generate actionable insights. Develop and implement strategies and priorities that align with corporate goals & objectives. Develops annual budgets and streamlines total costs. Develop and implement data-driven inventory plans that balance stock availability with total cost optimization and operational and financial constraints. Develop and implement data-driven demand plans based on historical sales data, seasonality, and market trends with S&OP collaboration. Develop and implement data-driven supply plans with the collaboration of sourcing to ensure alignment between service and inventory levels and buying strategies. Ensures that the demand, supply, and inventory plans are executed in accordance with supply chain strategy and goals. Monitors market and business trends to optimize supply and stock levels, while minimizing stockouts, obsolescence, and overstocks. Develop and implement inventory, demand planning, and procurement management policies, processes, and procedures. Develop and maintain key department performance metrics (e.g., stock-to-sales ratio, inventory turnover) to inform strategic decision-making. Fosters a collaborative environment to ensure effective communication and teamwork. Collaborates with cross-functional teams (marketing, sourcing, operations, sales, finance) to ensure smooth information flow and aligned goals. Supports the development and evolution of information systems such as ERP, EDI, and demand planning and inventory optimization software. Prepare and present regular reports on demand, supply, and inventory forecasts, current levels, and performance metrics to senior management. Identify cost-saving opportunities throughout the supply and inventory lifecycle. Implement governance to maintain best practice processes. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, law, business administration, or a related field; master’s degree a plus. If the bachelor’s degree is in an unrelated field, the candidate must have one of the following: Certification in planning and inventory management from ASCM/APICS. Certification in demand planning by IBF (CPF or ACPF). 10+ years related experience in supply and demand planning, inventory management, and master data functions. 5+ years managerial experience. Deep understanding of the Supply Chain function and best practices. Exceptional understanding of demand planning, procurement, and inventory management processes. Expertise with supply chain management software and technologies, such as WMS, ERP systems, and demand planning and inventory optimization tools. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team. Experience bridging cross-regional teams to ensure smooth communication and collaboration. Understanding of healthcare supply chain regulations and compliance requirements. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach. Passion for detail, accuracy, and efficiency. A change catalyst. Strong strategic thinking skills with a results-oriented mindset. High degree of analytical skills. High degree of interpersonal skills, specifically adept at succinct and professional communication and influencing. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Increase operational inventory accuracy to 98%. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
