Mid-Level Solid Waste Engineer
to join our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice in the
Columbia, Maryland
office. The position will apply engineering or geology skills to projects involving landfills, transfer stations, surface impoundments, geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, solid waste planning, and other solid waste management systems while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Geosyntec Careers . Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Civil design, landfill and transfer station design, stormwater design, and site layout; Engineering analyses such as slope stability, hydrologic and landfill gas modeling, seismic, and seepage; Preparation of permit applications, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; Fieldwork associated with investigation, design and construction services; Small project/task management; Understanding of local, state and federal regulations related to solid waste; Assisting in the development of proposals and other business development activities; Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks. Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, geologic, or geotechnical engineering. (required) Advanced degree in the same. (preferred) Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or the ability to obtain P.E. registration within 1 year. (preferred) Skills, Experience and Qualifications
At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) Demonstrated strong interest in solid waste. (required) Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required) Excellent writing and communication skills. (required) Experience with modeling/design tools such as GeoStudio, Slide, Settle3D, Golden Software, and/or HELP. (preferred) Regular fieldwork and overnight travel. (required) Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required. Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required) This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set, and location.
