POSITION PURPOSE

The Associate Director independently analyzes, administers and manages SSW core, self-sustaining and gift funds to ensure the integrity of use along with the responsibility to ensure that fund uses and projections will be revenue neutral for each fiscal year per University of Washington fiscal policies. Fund analytics support for this will assist in setting strategic directions and goal setting for the School of Social Work for sustainability for the near and long term.

POSITION COMPLEXITIES

The Associate Director has primary responsibility for oversight in the maintenance of the UW’s signature enterprise wide financial system, Workday. This includes relevant worktags for use to provisioning UW staff in the access of key systems to perform one’s role. The position will be a lead mentor to Fiscal Specialists, Budget/Fiscal Analysts across the SSW in administrative fiscal policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide high level of operational expertise through analysis and interpretation of data gathered for decision support.

Support the Assistant Dean with information to support data driven decisions to achieve strategic goals.

Develop and provide comprehensive financial, statistical, and business analyses, business and financial forecasting, and financial modeling.

Develop analysis to support school wide funding model changes.

Design and build complex queries, data flows, and data visualization.

Clean and normalize data required for all internal and external reporting requirements.

Develop and support standardized and customizable financial reports for all sources of funds.

Manage the forecasting and revenue cycle for various state-line programs.

Provide project management and analytic support as requested.

Respond to ad hoc data requests by SSW leadership.

Provide regular financial reports to Assistant Dean and other school wide leadership as requested.

Analyze reports prepared by others in the University and evaluate their impact on the School.

Facilitate the development of the annual budget and operating plan.

Track and report on any funding and adjustments to funding agreements.

Develop policies and procedures in conjunction with the Dean’s Office finance staff.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.

Four to five years of experience in a University financial setting.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be skilled in creating and using complex MS Excel spreadsheets.

Ability to accurately analyze complex financial and accounting data.

Must communicate well both orally and in writing.

Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and leadership.

Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree in education, public policy, or business administration.

Experience with the major UW systems including Workday.
