Job Description:

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for entering purchase order invoices into the accounting system, ensuring the accuracy of invoicing details, and resolving supplier and department inquiries related to payments. This role involves daily invoice processing and supporting special accounting projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Invoice Entry: Enter approximately 150-200 purchase order invoices into the accounting system daily.
  • Invoice Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy of invoice details including supplier name, invoice amount, date, 1099 type/amount, and tax assessment.
  • Inquiries Resolution: Address supplier and department inquiries related to invoices, check requests, and payment status, investigating any errors or issues.
  • Support Special Projects: Assist with special accounting projects as assigned by Leads or the Accounts Payable (AP) Manager.
Qualification Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in Accounts Payable or General Accounting.
  • Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, metric-driven environment.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Higher Education Experience: Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • ERP Systems: Familiarity with complex ERP electronic workflow systems such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, or Workday.
