A Florida stablished law firm is seeking experienced Insurance Defense Legal Assistant for its Ft. Lauderdale office. Applicants should have 2+ years of experience, be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills, and be well organized to join our fast-growing team. Insurance defense experience recommended.
Duties:
Organizes cases by establishing and organizing files; establishing calendars; expediting requirements and deadlines; documenting actions. Scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel's scheduling requests; coordinating hearing and depositions and processing of pleadings and correspondence and use of the e-filing portal. Preparation of exhibits and correspondence; scheduling mediation conferences and hearings; drafting pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses from opposing counsel; initiating and maintaining contact with adjusters and opposing counsel. Helps clients by initiating and maintaining contact; preparing clients to answer discovery and keeping clients informed of case status. Accomplishes law firm mission by completing other duties as needed. Skills/Qualifications:
Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products. Working knowledge of Case Management software experience a plus (Time Matters and Juris Suite a plus) Organizational skills Time management and planning skills Verbal and written communication skills Strong computer proficiency Detail oriented Must be dependable Able to keep cases and client matters confidential Must have reliable transportation
