The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of metallic commodities, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to develop and maintain robust supplier relationships.

Job Description

Strategic Procurement
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for metallic materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and other specialty metallics.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and global supply chain dynamics to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers to ensure a competitive and reliable supply base.
Supplier Management
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure favorable terms and consistent quality.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and long-term supply arrangements.
  • Evaluate supplier performance against KPIs, including cost, quality, and delivery metrics.
Cost and Inventory Management
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or delivery.
  • Collaborate with inventory management teams to optimize stock levels and reduce waste.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering to reduce material costs.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications and project requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal teams to resolve any quality or delivery issues promptly.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives, such as product development or sustainability projects, involving metals sourcing.
Risk Management
  • Assess and mitigate risks related to supply disruptions, price volatility, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges in the metals supply chain.
Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Monitor and report on metallic material costs, market trends, and supplier performance.
  • Utilize data to forecast demand and support strategic decision-making.

The Successful Applicant
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in procurement, with a focus on metals or raw materials.
    • Strong background in supplier negotiation and contract management.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
    • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of metallic materials, supply chain dynamics, and market drivers.
    • Familiarity with international trade regulations and compliance standards.
