SodStar (Operated by Buy Sod) , a multi-state agribusiness company with sod farms in the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee is currently seeking to hire an experienced and motivated Full Time Equipment Operator I to join our dynamic team at our Dunn, NC. Location.

The Equipment Operator safely operates mowers, harvesters, planters, tractors and/or forklifts as needed on a daily basis. Equipment Operators are responsible for ensuring equipment is washed, filled with fuel and any assist with necessary maintenance completed/reported daily.

Equipment Operator I Responsibilities:
Safely operate assigned farm machinery on a daily basis and report safety issues/concerns and concerns to management in a timely manner.
Keep the farm neat, clean and orderly and free of debris.
Maintain a neat and organized work area to include shop, truck, equipment, field, etc.
Perform day-to-day operations around the farm using a variety of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, machetes, weed eater, etc.
Responsible for general machine maintenance such as greasing, changing blades, checking chain tensions, checking tire pressures, checking for worn bearings, checking fluid levels etc.
Ensure all equipment is oil/leak free at all times during equipment operation.
Thoroughly clean/wash machines as needed to prevent cross-contamination.
Carefully and properly flag pallets and big rolls as instructed.
Weigh pallets of sod and relay weights to Harvest Manager/Harvester Operator.
Load sod for customers by hand and with forklift.
Stage sod neatly in an accessible area with forklift.
Depending on workloads, weather/field conditions, staffing, etc. must be able to assist in different departments as instructed by Farm Management.

Equipment Operator I Requirements:
Previous experience as an Equipment Operator preferred.
A valid State Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
Must demonstrate ability to be a team player and build positive working relationships with others.
Ability to communicate equipment issues and understand job assignments.
Ability to discern what issues need to be brought to upper management.
Ability to understand the concept and consequences of grass cross-contamination.
Must have the ability to complete tasks properly with minimal supervision.
Ability to work flexible hours to include, but not limited to, early AM/PM, nights and weekends and hours that could fluctuate day-to-day.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions required.
Ability to sit, climb and balance as well as bend and kneel frequently.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally. Twisting with weight as needed.
Manual dexterity, coordination and constant movement and use of limbs required.
