Large well known Irvine based company is conducting a private search for an experienced Revenue Accounting Manager.
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented End-of-Year Revenue Accounting Manager to oversee the company’s revenue recognition process at year-end. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, revenue recognition standards, and regulatory requirements. This role will ensure the accurate and timely reporting of revenue for the year-end close process and support the broader accounting team in delivering high-quality financial statements.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Recognition and Compliance:
- Ensure that all revenue is accurately recognized in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), ASC 606, and other applicable accounting standards.
- Review and assess contracts, sales agreements, and other documentation to ensure proper revenue recognition.
- Ensure all required disclosures related to revenue are included in financial statements.
Year-End Close Process:
- Lead and coordinate the end-of-year revenue close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Manage reconciliation of revenue-related accounts to ensure consistency between the general ledger and supporting schedules.
- Ensure proper accounting for deferred revenue, accrued revenue, and other related items at year-end.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare revenue schedules, journal entries, and related reports for year-end financial statements.
- Work closely with internal auditors and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support for audit reviews.
- Analyze year-over-year revenue performance and trends, providing actionable insights to senior management.
Internal Controls:
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to prevent errors, fraud, and misstatements in revenue recognition and related processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Partner with Sales, Operations, and Legal teams to gather relevant information related to revenue transactions and contracts.
- Work with FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis) to ensure alignment between revenue forecasts and actual performance.
- Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff as needed.
System and Process Improvements:
- Identify opportunities for streamlining the revenue recognition process and improving systems and controls.
- Assist in implementing new accounting software or tools to enhance the revenue accounting process.
Special Projects:
- Participate in ad hoc projects, such as new revenue streams, changes in business models, or policy updates that impact revenue recognition.
- Support the finance team in strategic initiatives as it relates to revenue reporting and accounting.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Required).
- CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in revenue accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of revenue recognition under ASC 606, accounting for contracts, and general accounting principles.
- Previous experience managing year-end close processes and working with external auditors.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Knowledge of financial systems and ERP tools.

- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
