Supervise members and activities of the local Manufacturing Engineering team in support of the facilities objectives. Support the development, implementation and maintenance of safe, cost-effective manufacturing processes in a lean environment. Coordinate with other departments to drive the organization to be the best in class. Communicate relevant staff, project or facility-related information promptly to the Plant Manager Directly manage select engineering projects, as determined by the Plant Manager. (Est. 30% workload) Support the Plant Manager in jointly creating/maintaining annual capital expenditure and productivity savings plans for the facility. Work to achieve specified annual capital and productivity savings targets. (Est. 10% workload) Supervise the Manufacturing Engineering department in their daily activities to (Est. 60% workload): Ensure safety is the first priority in all projects, duties and activities of the Engineering Team. Support the manufacturing department by providing assistance for process, equipment, tooling, and design-related issues. Identify, support, and lead opportunities to streamline production by re-allocating/moving equipment/product lines between Hubbell facilities, or to outsource to vendors. Assist in the development of new products in coordination with the Design Engineering and Marketing departments. Evaluate feasibility, cost effectiveness, and resource constraints. Ensure fiscal responsibility of the department including: departmental resource requirements, routine expenses, developmental expenses, and related. Ensure that bills of materials, product routings, costing calculations, and similar are created, maintained, and updated as needed. Support department activities to design new processes, modify existing designs, improve production techniques and develop test procedures. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, safety, and evaluation of the functional area. Carry out supervisory responsibilities for the department in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures as well as any applicable laws or regulations. Responsible for hiring and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
