What We Need: We are looking for a Business Development Manager focused on Public Sector - Federal Government supporting the Washington D.C. market. The Business Development Manager, Public Sector, is responsible for generating opportunities in support of Federal, State, and Local government agencies within Washington DC market territory. This role will develop, plan, and execute sales and marketing efforts to increase Public Sector market share within the Washington DC territory. What You Will Do:
  • Prospect for potential public sector customers using various direct methods such as calling and face-to-face meetings, and indirect methods such as networking through key industry contacts, influencer, and trade organizations.
  • Search, qualify, develop, and track sales leads for new business. Drive the entire sales cycle from initial customer engagement to closed sale in partnership with Public Sector qualified dealers.
  • Investigate and create awareness of all public sector business moves (lease expirations, consolidations, restacks, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key influencers, dealer partners, public sector end users, and other Allsteel contacts/members.
  • Leverage contracts, agreements, BPA's, IDIQ's and other procure vehicles in creative ways to generate new revenue.
What You Have:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5 years experience in Public Sector sales with a working knowledge of GSA schedules, contracts, BPA's, IDIQ's and other common purchasing vehicles.
What Youre Good At:
  • Knowledge of office environment issues and general business trends.
  • Ability to identify and positively influence key decision makers and influencers.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, organization, and customer (internal and external) support orientation.
  • Ability to successfully interact across business functions, from Allsteel HQ to the field sales members and independent dealers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
