KNBN Newscenter1, the NBC station in Rapid City, SD, is looking for a Part Time Multimedia Journalist to join our growing team. As a MMJ, you will be responsible for writing stories, conducting interviews, shooting video, and editing stories for our award-winning newscasts. You will be doing live reporting, reporting on breaking news stories as they happen. You will have the opportunity to work on your anchoring skills as fill-in anchor. The successful candidate will have exceptional written, communication and organizational skills. While a college degree in journalism or a related field is preferred, we are willing to train the right person. Our newsroom continues to grow as we expand our news programs, which means you can grow along with us.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Write stories and conduct interviews on assigned topics.
  • Shoot and edit video and edit stories for newscasts.
  • Live reporting, as well as reporting on breaking news and sports stories as they happen.
  • Act as a fill-in anchor for both news and sports
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional written, communication, and organizational skills. .
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by the company.
  • Must carry an acceptable level of vehicle insurance as required by the company.

Rapid City is a growing city located in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Mount Rushmore is less than 30 minutes from downtown Rapid City. Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park, each with one of the largest free-ranging herds of bison in the nation. The Black Hills National Forest offers numerous hiking and ATV opportunities. Badlands National Park is less than an hour away. In the winter, there are skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing opportunities as well.

NewsCenter1/KNBN-TV is part of Forum Communications, a family-owned and operated company based in Fargo, N.D. NewsCenter1 produces over 16 hours of local news, weather and sports content each week as we continue to grow our staff in the news department.

Expected compensation for this role is between $20 and $25/hour, based on qualifications and experience.
