The mission of the Asian American Pacific IslanderResource Center (AAPIRC) is to build a sense of belonging and provideculturally relevant programming for AAPI students at the University of NewMexico. The AAPI designation includes East Asian, Southeast Asian, CentralAsian, South
Asian, Pacific Islander, and West Asian individuals.

AAPIRC is seeking a passionate, energetic, and detail-oriented ProgramAssistant to join a team committed to positively advancing and impacting theoverall education experience and holistic development of the UNM AAPI studentcommunity.

This position requires advanced critical thinking and writing skills,demonstrated experience developing social media content, robust editing andresearch skills, dynamic interpersonal and public speaking abilities, andexperience assisting with the development of surveys, forms and other datacollection tools. The ideal candidate would demonstrate proficiency in thefollowing areas: Peer Advisement, Customer & Student Service, ProjectManagement & Event Coordination, Mentoring, and Computer Skills. Primaryduties include, but are not limited to: providing general information specificto the department and/or the University, assisting with special projects andprogramming, conducting group presentations & campus tours, data entry,managing spreadsheet applications, publication layout and development,maintaining confidential records and information, and additional job-relatedduties as assigned.

This position requires in-person work at the Asian American PacificIslander Resource Center.

Minimum EmploymentQualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM-Main Campus, have aminimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, enrollment in at least half-time (6-credit hours)for the Spring 2025 semester (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Studyeligible, must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist and participate in the planning & implementation of all AAPIRC programs and events throughout the academic year.
2. Support the operational development components of the AAPIRC Newsletter, including but not limited to: reviewing & editing drafts, researching campus events and activities for partnership & collaboration opportunities, and creating event flyers and announcements.
3. Assist with department data collection projects, including tasks associated with developing, generating, and archiving AAPIRC reports, spreadsheets, and databases.
4. Support the development of AAPIRC student employee training materials.

Required Qualifications
- Highly motivated individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills and an established record of providing superior customer service is critical to the position.

- Expertise/competency utilizing Adobe Creative applications (Illustrator, lnDesign, Adobe Express, and Photoshop), Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Internet Navigation is required.

- Demonstrated evidence of strong writing, research, and public speaking/communication skills.

- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow specific instructions/procedures and work both independently and as a team member.

- Display commitment to understanding and honoring the confidentiality of student records and information.

- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadline and time constraint assignments.

- Exhibit positive work ethic, initiative, flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn new skills through training guided by the AAPIRC staff and leadership

- Average work hours during the Spring semester are 20-25 per week, dependent on department needs. Additional assignments and work hours may be assigned. Continued employment through the Summer 2025 term and beyond will be determined through the department performance evaluation process.

- Applicants that can commit to the Program Assistant position for a minimum of one year are highly desirable.
