Job Description
Performs routine and specialty pulmonary function testing, stress testing, and metabolic assessment testing.
Performs complete and accurate patient assessment or reassessment. Provides education to the patient and /or patient/guardian in a manner that the recipient understands in order to contribute to positive patient care outcome and patient satisfaction. Performs arterial and capillary punctures for blood gas analysis. Performs quality controls and ensures preventative maintenance is completed on diagnostic equipment. Maintains and orders supplies necessary for pulmonary function lab.
Assist with patient flow of clinic.
Obtain vital signs. Captures and enters patient information into EMR. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens. Ensures appropriate documentation such as x-rays and laboratory reports are available for provider's review. Rooms patients into exam room with preparation for exam and assists provider with exam. Handles all telephone calls in a courteous and timely manner with documentation of call in EMR.
Ensure provider's orders are carried out:
a. Under the direction of the provider schedules PT/OT, surgery, and diagnostic test to include pre-authorization and notification of patient.
b. Assists provider with bronchoscopy if needed.
Ensures medications are safely stored in an appropriate area as designated by law, and that medication expiration dates are evaluated on a monthly schedule.
a. Familiar with pharmacokinetics, contraindications, side effects, mode of administration of all medications provider prescribes.
Ensures accurate ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes are recorded.
Documentation of CF NBS grant to ensure all documentation is done necessary for grant deliverables are done in a timely manner.
Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by associates' supervisor
Required Qualifications:
Certified Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care or Registered Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care
Current licensure in Florida as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Current licensure in Florida as Registered Respiratory Therapist
Current BLS certification with the American Heart Association
Current PALS certification or obtained within one year of employment
Preferred:
Registered as a Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care or Registered Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory care achieved prior to July 2002

About the Team
At Nemours, we've developed a large, expansive network of rehabilitation professionals (including physical, occupational and speech therapists, audiologists and rehabilitation engineers) who work to help children and teens move through all phases of recovery - from acute injury and developmental needs to wellness programming.
We use an integrated approach to care, starting with our strong partnerships with Nemours' primary care and physician specialists. The Therapeutic & Rehabilitative Services department offers:
inpatient services - acute care and comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation outpatient services - single-service therapy, comprehensive therapy day programming, wellness programming specialty programming - aquatics, seating and mobility, augmentative communication, vestibular rehabilitation, splinting/wound care, Interactive Metronome, feeding and swallowing, audio verbal therapy, integrative listening (ILS), sports medicine, concussion rehabilitation
