Studio RRD is a lighting design studio fueled by limitless thinking, precision and exacting visual mastery. We explore the intersection of design, technology, and architecture to push boundaries and deliver the intended human experience.
Our
studio
was assembled through years of collaborative visual mastery across a variety of disciplines in art, theater, fashion, music and architecture. Our
team
composed of shared, but singly distinctive talent includes designers, renderers, draftsmen and production professionals brought together by a desire to push the limits of light. Our
collaborative
experience and inspired arts training has informed a cross-pollinated team aesthetic, merging compelling and striking elements from every corner of the globe to shape both the visual and visceral human experience. Job Summary: As a Draftsperson, you will work closely with Associate & Senior Lighting Designers at every stage of the design process to create fully realized lighting concepts. Draftspeople are responsible for creating highly detailed drawings, renderings, and all ancillary paperwork needed for a complete lighting package. This includes the technical framework and support systems needed to realize a clients aesthetic, comprehensive of rigging and temporary structures, power distribution systems, and lighting control networks. Additionally, Draftspeople work on-site with other design staff to finalize ideas, take measurements, and document the finished product. Expected Qualifications: 1 3 years of verifiable professional experience in theatrical, event, or broadcast drafting for lighting, or an otherwise applicable role. Relevant education experience considered. High proficiency in 3D Vectorworks and Vectorworks Spotlight Proficiency in Lightwright Basic to Intermediate Photoshop skills or artistic 3D rendering skills to communicate design ideas. Knowledge of Autocad, Rhino, Cinema 4D, Sketchup, and other CAD programs is a plus. Basic knowledge of power and data distribution systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Unflappable, adaptable and ability to maintain positivity in a fast-paced environment. High School Diploma required, Bachelors Degree preferred Job Responsibilities: Draft lighting plots, ground plans, sections, elevations, construction details, truck packs, etc. Generate artistic renderings and 3D visualizations. Generate Lightwright and other ancillary paperwork as needed Assist with the graphic design/layout of pitch decks and other creative files as needed. Assist senior staff on-site to take measurements, layout fixtures and other work as needed. Assist with the organization and maintenance of the companys digital assets and databases Other duties as assigned This position is paid hourly, with overtime after 40 hours per week, with a starting rate of between $25 -$35/hr, depending on experience. This is a limited-duration freelance position with the potential to extend into a full-time position. Interested candidates should email a
