The full time Career Coach (2 positions) serves as a member of the Career & Life Calling (CALC) team to contribute to university objectives to prepare students for career readiness infused with a Christian World View. The Career Coach will help students learn about their own strengths and preferences to improve their discernment of God's unique design for their learning and work lives. This role includes strategic communications to internal and external parties as a primary career services contact. The position ensures smooth workflow within the office, facilitates collaboration with academics and employers, and drives initiatives that enhance employer and student engagement. REPORTS TO: Director of Career and Life Calling

LOCATION: Corum Student Union, Grand Rapids, MI

SALARY RANGE: $44,000 - $45,000/year. Actual salary will be commensurate with candidate education, skills and experience. A candidate with significant experience and demonstrated excellence in directly relevant areas will be eligible to be considered for a lead role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aid students in career readiness to include individual and group assistance to students
  • Develop training materials, modules, and templates for resume preparation, interview skills, cover letters, business networking, or other career readiness skills
  • Implement strategic department goals of building employer relations
  • Coordinate on-campus employer visits
  • Prepare internship, job, & graduate school communications
  • Collaborate with Cornerstone University's marketing team and other departments as needed
  • Contribute to departmental communication on university websites and social media
  • Assist with Career and Life Calling events
  • Prepare communication, training, and assistance to employers and students with job postings and applications on Handshake
  • Conduct presentations as needed with undergraduate students in vocational exploration and development through 1:1 and group/classroom interactions (such as self-assessments, workshops, resume preparation, and career coaching)
  • Assist with the collection and presentation of key performance indicator surveys and metrics
  • Maintain data files and reports for Career and Life Calling
  • All Cornerstone University employees will regularly interact with students in a variety of projects, activities, and settings. As such all employees are expected to serve as Christian leaders and mentors by effectively living a gospel-centered lifestyle, ministering and discipling through a biblical worldview.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree completed or in process in related field preferred (Student Affairs, Human Resources, Nonprofit Administration, Human Services, Communication, Education, Social Work, Counseling...)
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication ability to develop and maintain organizational partnerships and to develop talent
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in human resources, recruiting, or career services preferred
  • Intrinsically motivated professional with a calling to serve as a Christ-centered educational administrator
  • Self-starter with proven ability to connect with the Z generation and effectively contribute to their learning
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to be accurate and maintain confidentiality
  • Computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, video capture and database familiarity
  • Experience with cross functional teams and ability to contribute to strategic plans for achievement of desired outcomes.
