Job Description

  • Monitor and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems.
  • Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses and provide solutions.
  • Report on breakeven points by product, work center, and plant.
  • Report on variances and their causes, focusing on material cost variance and labor rate variance.
  • Review, process, and provide cost impact analysis for Engineering Change Notices.
  • Review and update standard costs in the bill of materials.
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies. Provide analysis and reporting of variances.
  • Assist with annual standard cost updates.
  • As part of the month-end close, prepare journal entries related to inventory and WIP, conduct account reconciliation, prepare variance analysis, and project closing/analysis.
  • Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts. Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues.
  • Work with the operations team to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory.
  • Serve as cost accounting liaison with both internal and external auditors.
  • Update and review cost accounting work instructions and SOPs as needed.
  • Participate on project teams, serving as primary Finance contact for Engineered-to-Order projects. Provide key work cell performance data to Engineering and Operations. Analyze and communicate budget-to-actual project performance to senior management.
  • Prepare financial/inventory reports and provide explanations to variance/causes as needed.
  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Experience
  • 3 years of experience in standard cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with an ERP system
  • GAAP experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Education or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in standard cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP System
  • Experience with Implementing ERP system upgrade
  • Experience with BI reporting
  • Experience with Hyperion
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience
Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization, both verbally and in writing, formally and informally
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
Technical Skills
  • Highly developed cost analysis skills
  • Expert using Microsoft Excel to collect, organize, and manipulate very large amounts of complex data. Experienced in using VLOOKUP's and pivot tables to organize and summarize large volumes of data.
