Job Title: Buyer 3 (SR)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary
Performs a broad base of purchasing duties using effective knowledge and skills in procurement of material and supplier management. Provides procurement support in matching company requirements to supplier capabilities while ensuring vendor cost, project schedules and performance criteria is met. Successfully interfaces with manufacturing engineering on project requirements, changes and material resolutions or discrepancies.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent
4-5 year of buying experience; or a comparable mixture of experience and education and/or training preferred.
Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience purchasing and negotiating with Machine shops that performs milling, turn work, along with fabrication.
Responsibilities
The job is expected to demonstrate proficiency in implementing a variety of involved work processes, functions and procedures. The employee has specific authority to select appropriate work methods and techniques to complete assigned activities. Emphasis is placed upon the accurate recall and prioritization of assigned tasks. The scope of work performed requires coordination and integration of tasks among departmental employees and may involve responsibility for ongoing contacts with customers, employees, vendors and contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties as assigned:
- Same Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Buyer II
- Supports ongoing company projects working closely with design engineers in development requirements of Jamco products.
- Develops and support supply chain strategies for logistical requirements of global manufacturing requirements.
- Clarifies specifications through Engineering and Quality for materials to be procured.
- Assists Engineering in resolving issues regarding new materials, new sources and the establishment of sources for new and existing products.
- Works with design engineers to ensure cost is considering in development of Jamco product. Provide innovative solutions during design to achieve assigned recurring budgets.
- Determines method of procurement such as "make or buy" decision with Manufacturing Engineers and planners as appropriate.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, engineers, suppliers and others to determine root cause and take corrective action as necessary.
- Set themselves as a role model and mentor for less experienced buyers.
