Reports to: Director of Transportation
Work Agreement: 170 Student Days
Daily Route Pay: $150 per day (max. 4 hours of driving daily routes)
Attendance Stipend: $400 per month when driving 90% of assigned routes per month
Activity Pay: $25 per hour; includes drive and sit time
Activity Stipend: $100 per 10 activities driven
Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for Bus Drivers to begin August 1, 2024. This part-time position reports on student days and/or when activity routes are requested. This position is considered open until filled.
Essential Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Nebraska drivers license with a CDL or able to obtain a CDL
- Satisfactory driving record
- No history of child abuse or negligence
- Works well on a team with various personalities
- High degree of flexibility and adaptability
- High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills
- Regular, dependable attendance on the job
- Drives a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules
- Picking up and discharging students at designated stops
- Transport students and teacher on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed
- Operate transportation software to scan student badges
- Operate two-way radio
- Comply with federal, state, and School District policies, procedures, and regulations
- Maintains order an proper discipline of student passengers according to district policy
- Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily
- Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary
- Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; checks and when necessary fills tires and batteries
- Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request
- Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition
- Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts
- Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required
- Attends driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of Nebraska Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code as it applies to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of school children
- Washes bus as needed
- Performs related duties as required
Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor.
At-Will Position:
This position is an "at-will" position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time at the sole discretion of the Superintendent or Superintendent's designee.
