Summary
The Commercial Lender is an integral part of the team and delivers exceptional customer service to both external and internal clients. The primary duties of a Commercial Lender include but is not limited to, developing relationships with clients and community partners, managing commercial loan accounts that meet established lending requirements, acquire business opportunities to achieve profitability while minimizing risks, meet clients' financial needs by offering bank services and products that are aligned with their goals.
The location for this position may vary within the company's footprint on the Northshore and may include but is not limited to: Covington, Mandeville, Hammond, and Slidell.
Responsibilities
- Solicits commercial loans and commercial real estate loans.
- Obtains necessary documentation related to loan applications.
- Prepares loans for presentation to Loan Committee.
- Performs credit and financial analysis of loan applications.
- Services all types of commercial and commercial real estate loans including but not limited to obtaining current financial information, obtaining insurance and tax information, collecting past due payments.
- Develops new business by contacting prospects and customers.
- Counsels with and assists in the training and development of Commercial Loan Representatives.
- Cross sells bank products and services.
- Interviews loan applicants and collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request.
- Establishes and negotiates where necessary the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and schedule and collateral requirements.
- Monitors loan repayment activities and takes necessary action to collect from past due accounts.
- Performs other duties and special projects as needed.
- May provide functional supervision for loan administrative personnel.
- Cross trains and supports other positions as needed.
Skills/Experience/Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field of study.
- 3+ years of experience; or a combination of education and years of experience may be considered.
- Credit Analysis training.
- Familiarity with loan documentation and compliance regulations.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of bank products.
- Negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple clients.
- Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.
- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 15 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division any "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
