Senior Accounting Manager

Oversee and responsible for managing the people and functions of the Finance Department, including accounts receivable, payroll, grant accounting, fixed assets, and cash reporting. This position performs a variety of professional-level duties involving various accounting activities; analyzes and reconciles complex financial transactions; maintains the accuracy of the ledgers and subsidiary financial systems; prepares and maintains accurate financial records and reports; assists in the preparation of annual audit, monthly and year-end closing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and provide leadership to direct reports, including accountants and cash counters, ensuring effective performance management, professional development, and alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate closely with the Procurement Manager and Grants Manager to support financial planning, reporting, and compliance efforts.
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Prepare monthly financial and other statements and reports for review and presentation by the CFO.
- Provide financial information and effective support to the CEO, CFO and other executive staff.
- Ensure payroll is completed timely and accurately, including the filing of all required reports. Reconciles provider produced 941 reports to General Ledger.
- Act as the finance liaison to grants and assists the grant manager in federal reporting and
- compliance. Submits timely draws for grants.
- Manage and oversee the annual financial statement audit process.
- Manage the implementation of new accounting standards and requirements
- Prepare financial and other budget reports at regular intervals.
- Prepare state and federal reports as required
- Assist in the submission of financial section of NTD.
- Provide accounting services essential to assist in the preparation, administration, supervision, and control of the budget.
- Coordinate with the CFO for cash flow management.
- Establish internal controls and financial processes.
- Perform other related duties as required; all job descriptions are subject to change.
- Ability to use TARTA's technology and work to maintain proficiency.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, FASB and GASB.
- Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 and experience with single audit.
- Experience with budgets, financial statements, month-end and year-end closing.
- Experience with Grant Management is preferred.
- Shows a high moral character and strong business ethics.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Ability to create new processes to enhance departmental efficiencies.
- Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with all staff and utilize conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions according to TARTA's Accounting Policies and Procedures.
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Ten (10) years of accounting experience is required, and nonprofit accounting is preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience in a leadership position
