POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE

Bus Driver-Transportation

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. minimum.
  2. Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  3. Must meet all Arizona School Bus Driver Certification requirements: Possess an Arizona Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Passengers (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  4. Pass A.D.O.T. physical examination.
  5. Possess First Aid and CPR certification for adults, children and infants.
  6. Pass all drug testing requirements.
  7. Pass three-day New Bus driver Training courses and Exam test.
  8. Complete and pass a 20-hour Behind the Wheel training.
  9. Pass the Physical Performance Test.
  10. Must have five years of clean driving record.
  11. Must comply with the Arizona Minimum Standards for Student Transportation and Federal Regulations.
  12. Must be able to handle emergencies in bus operation.
  13. Must be dedicated and understanding of children and their safety.
  14. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of operational and preventive maintenance techniques.
  15. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  16. Must be able to work flexible hours.

Transportation Supervisor

JOB GOAL

To provide a safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District's curriculum and extra-curricular programs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILTIES
  1. Establishes and maintains good rapport with employees, students and the public.
  1. Obeys all traffic laws.
  1. Maintains discipline and enforces school bus rules when students are on board.
  1. Reports all student bus conduct to proper authority and completes all required documents.
  2. Drives bus route as assigned by supervisor.
  1. Conducts a mandatory Pre-trip and Post-trip before and after each operation.
  1. Notifies and reports any damages according to State regulations.
  1. Reports any repairs needed, mechanical defects, or safety device failure immediately to the transportation supervisor or shop foreman.
  1. Picks up and discharges students only at authorized stops.
  1. Transports only authorized students.
  1. Keeps daily roster of students assigned to the bus route.
  1. Keeps route time schedule of assigned bus route and student roster up to date and on file.
  1. Maintains a daily log of bus mileages, number of students transported, and submits to transportation office as required.
  1. Keeps bus or other assigned vehicle clean on a daily basis and follows all housekeeping standards according to Department of Public Safety (DPS) Minimum Standards.
  1. Refuels assigned bus before and after each bus route.
  1. Reports immediately to proper authority all accidents and incidents and completes all necessary reports and documents according to State regulations.
  1. Conducts school bus evacuation drills as required by DPS regulations.
  1. Adheres to confidentially of students and KUSD employees at all times.
  1. Accepts assignments of all types of routes and trips for transporting students.
  1. Assures requirements for school bus driver certification be valid at all times.
  1. Monitors all service maintenance due on assigned school bus and other district vehicles and reports to shop foreman.
  1. Returns assigned bus back to the transportation yard whenever on leave, on a trip, or during all breaks and holidays.
  1. Attends all required orientation, trainings and staff meetings as planned by supervisor.
  1. Learns and utilizes technology equipment used within the transportation department.
  1. Follows all KUSD Emergency guidelines and procedures.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Serves a ninety (90) day probationary period of employment when first hired; then 190 days at Grade 4. This position is a Non-exempt position. The Governing Board will establish salary and work year.
