POSITION TITLE
Bus Driver-Transportation
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. minimum.
- Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Must meet all Arizona School Bus Driver Certification requirements: Possess an Arizona Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Passengers (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Pass A.D.O.T. physical examination.
- Possess First Aid and CPR certification for adults, children and infants.
- Pass all drug testing requirements.
- Pass three-day New Bus driver Training courses and Exam test.
- Complete and pass a 20-hour Behind the Wheel training.
- Pass the Physical Performance Test.
- Must have five years of clean driving record.
- Must comply with the Arizona Minimum Standards for Student Transportation and Federal Regulations.
- Must be able to handle emergencies in bus operation.
- Must be dedicated and understanding of children and their safety.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of operational and preventive maintenance techniques.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
Transportation Supervisor
JOB GOAL
To provide a safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District's curriculum and extra-curricular programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILTIES
- Establishes and maintains good rapport with employees, students and the public.
- Obeys all traffic laws.
- Maintains discipline and enforces school bus rules when students are on board.
- Reports all student bus conduct to proper authority and completes all required documents.
- Drives bus route as assigned by supervisor.
- Conducts a mandatory Pre-trip and Post-trip before and after each operation.
- Notifies and reports any damages according to State regulations.
- Reports any repairs needed, mechanical defects, or safety device failure immediately to the transportation supervisor or shop foreman.
- Picks up and discharges students only at authorized stops.
- Transports only authorized students.
- Keeps daily roster of students assigned to the bus route.
- Keeps route time schedule of assigned bus route and student roster up to date and on file.
- Maintains a daily log of bus mileages, number of students transported, and submits to transportation office as required.
- Keeps bus or other assigned vehicle clean on a daily basis and follows all housekeeping standards according to Department of Public Safety (DPS) Minimum Standards.
- Refuels assigned bus before and after each bus route.
- Reports immediately to proper authority all accidents and incidents and completes all necessary reports and documents according to State regulations.
- Conducts school bus evacuation drills as required by DPS regulations.
- Adheres to confidentially of students and KUSD employees at all times.
- Accepts assignments of all types of routes and trips for transporting students.
- Assures requirements for school bus driver certification be valid at all times.
- Monitors all service maintenance due on assigned school bus and other district vehicles and reports to shop foreman.
- Returns assigned bus back to the transportation yard whenever on leave, on a trip, or during all breaks and holidays.
- Attends all required orientation, trainings and staff meetings as planned by supervisor.
- Learns and utilizes technology equipment used within the transportation department.
- Follows all KUSD Emergency guidelines and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Serves a ninety (90) day probationary period of employment when first hired; then 190 days at Grade 4. This position is a Non-exempt position. The Governing Board will establish salary and work year.
