Job Description
Starr Insurance Companies is seeking an experienced Underwriting Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing insurance policies to determine risk levels and establish appropriate premiums for clients. You will ensure underwriting and service standards are met on assigned accounts, develop insurance proposals, prepare policies and endorsements, obtain underwriting approvals, purchase reinsurance when needed, review reinsurance certificates and complete reinsurance documentations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solicit renewal property submission from various production sources
- Analyze submitted risk information according to company underwriting standards and guidelines and request additional information.
- Prepare a detailed account summary referral document and submit for approval to appropriate authority.
- Subject to written underwriting authority develop, prepare and present quotation terms and conditions as submitted.
- Review and approve binding terms and conditions for new and renewal business as well as endorsements and amendments to existing policies.
- Prepare and approve insurance details for binders and reinsurance layoff sheets for underwriting assistants, in order to book renewal accounts.
- Set up or review and approve policy forms for all new and renewal policies according to binding terms for policy issuance by U/A including endorsements.
- Review and approve final bound policy terms prior to mailing to broker/client in accordance with underwriting standards and guidelines.
- Prepare and approve file documentation in accordance with file documentation procedures.
- Prepare various Home Office reports as requested or required.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- Multi-tasker and organized
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of Insurance industry
