Senior E&S Casualty Underwriter

Our client continues to expand their E&S footprint and is seeking to add (2) Senior E&S Casualty Underwriters to join their team. This position will focus on the underwriting of primary casualty risks exclusively through wholesale agents and brokers. This role will require a strategic approach to risk selection, pricing, and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the excess & surplus (E&S) market, excellent relationship-building skills with wholesale partners, and a demonstrated ability to drive profitable growth.
- Underwrite and price new and renewal business in accordance with company underwriting guidelines for Primary Casualty risks.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale agents and brokers to identify opportunities for new business and retention of existing accounts.
- Evaluate and assess risk exposures, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to achieve profitable results and maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Claims, Loss Control, and Actuarial to ensure proper risk management.
- Monitor portfolio performance and adjust underwriting strategy to maintain profitability and growth objectives.
- Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks that may impact the underwriting strategy.
- Attend industry events and meetings with wholesale agents and brokers to promote the company's products and build relationships.
- 5 - 10+ of underwriting experience in Primary Casualty, with a focus on working with wholesale agents and brokers.
- Strong understanding of the E&S market and the unique needs of wholesale distribution channels.
- Proven ability to negotiate and manage broker relationships.
- Analytical mindset with experience in assessing risks, developing pricing strategies, and ensuring portfolio profitability.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Risk Management, Business, etc.); CPCU, AU, or other insurance designations are preferred.
- $150,000 to $225,000+ annual base salary (depending on experience) plus 10 - 30% Target Bonus
