Job description

USGP has an opportunity for a PHYSICIAN EXTENDER (PA/NP) to provide services to our military service members, their families, and veterans within the EMERGENCY MEDICINE DEPARTMENT at WOMACK ARMY MEDICAL CENTER, FORT LIBERTY, NC.

Benefits:

Competitive Pay – $100.00/hr.

1099 position


Qualifications:

· Degree/Education: NP: Master’s Degree in Nursing. Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). PA: Bachelor’s Degree. Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

· Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Certifying organization varies on location. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

· Experience: At least one full year of professional nursing experience. Professional Nursing Experience is defined as: performing physical examinations, ordering or interpreting lab results, and either diagnosing diseases or prescribing medications. Candidate must be required to demonstrate clinical competency within the past two years in the required clinical discipline.

· Board Certification: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

· Licensure/Registration: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license

or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Candidate must also obtain a DEA Registration.


Job Duties:

To include but not limited to

· Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.

· Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.

· Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations.

· Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.

· Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice.

· Establish collaborative rapport with physician, nursing and others in order to promote and facilitate primary care services.

· Teach patients and family member's healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving wellness.

· Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.

· Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.

· Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.

· Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.

· Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.
