The Director of Retail Excellence is a strategic and hands-on leadership role that drives operational excellence, leads impactful training programs, and streamlines communications across a fleet of retail stores. You will play a pivotal role in leading a team that supports enhancing the efficiency, productivity, and engagement of store teams while delivering exceptional customer experiences. You will report to the Vice President of Retail and Omni-Channel Excellence.

You will understand retail operations, capabilities, and the ability to inspire teams and business partners at all levels. You will be a thought leader, change agent, and advocate for best-in-class retail practices. You will lead a team of professionals and will collaborate with our cluster and global teams to influence work across departments and geographies.

About the Job

Operations Leadership:

Develop and implement operational strategies that drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance in-store performance. Ensure consistent execution of standard operating procedures across all locations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and execute innovative solutions.

Training and Development:

Lead training programs that empower store teams with the skills to succeed in a retail environment, inclusive of e-learning, instructor lead course, virtual webinars and train-the-trainer sessions. Lead Learning & Development teams to create scalable programs tailored to store-level and leadership roles, including onboarding, developmental, selling, operational and product training. Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of training programs and continuously refine programs for maximum impact.

Communications:

Oversee the development and delivery of clear, concise, and actionable communications to store teams. Oversee communication and learning management systems. Guide change management in communication and training processes. Be a key liaison between corporate teams and retail locations, ensuring understanding on priorities and messaging. Foster a culture of open communication and feedback to enhance team collaboration and understanding.

Team Leadership:

Lead and develop a high-performing team of operations, training, and communication professionals. Cultivate a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Be a role model for company values, advocating for a customer-first mindset and commitment to excellence.

Performance Management:

Analyze key performance metrics to assess operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement. Test and build field Incentive Programs that support driving key performance indicators. Collaborate with finance and operations teams to align goals with financial objectives. Provide regular insights to senior leadership on progress and initiatives.

About You

Minimum of 10 years of retail experience, including leadership roles. Expertise in retail operations, training, and communications within a multi-location environment. Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale initiatives and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Experience managing change and driving cultural transformation. Familiarity with latest trends and technologies in the retail industry.

This is a hybrid position based in our San Francisco, CA headquarters. You will be expected in office 3 days per week typically Tuesday-Thursday. Note, time in office can vary depending on business needs.

The expected starting salary range for this role is $144,800 - $219,300 per year .

We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, performance and business needs.
