The Internal Services/Technology Department is seeking a SERVICE DESK SPECIALIST to join their team. This position provides frontline technical computer hardware and software application support to County departments and computer end users for the Technology Department. Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including hardware and software. Identifies solutions to work around issues that are under investigation or pending resolution. Researches issues, identifies solutions, and resolves end user’s problems; or escalates incidents or requests for service requiring more in-depth knowledge, or serious network/infrastructure problems to appropriate second tier support staff. Documents, tracks, and monitors problems to ensure a timely resolution. Records call resolutions in the ServiceDesk database. Prepares reports and correspondence as needed. Configures, installs, and updates desktops, laptops, peripherals, networks, and related software. Communicates with end users to ensure expectations are managed in relation to the Technology Department’s ability to respond and resolve problems.Minimum Qualifications•Requires an associate’s degree in computer technology or a certification from a recognized computer maintenance training program.•Requires one year of experience providing technical support in a network and application environment.•Special Qualifications: Must be able to pass a criminal background check conducted by the Missoula County Sheriff’s Department.•Applicants with two or more years of experience providing technical support in a network and application environment, may be considered without a degree/certifications.Physical/Environmental DemandsWork is commonly performed in an office setting.
