For over a century, the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics has been recognized as one of the world\'s leading centers for economic research and education. The Department\'s faculty has received numerous awards, including more Nobel Prize laureates and John Bates Clark medalists in economics than any other university. Among our faculty are many members of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Econometric Society.
Job Summary
The Communications Manager plays a vital role in shaping the department\'s image and reputation. The manager works closely with the Department Chair and Director of Finance, Operations and Personnel to plan and implement the department\'s internal and outward-facing communication efforts. The manager disseminates department news, weekly announcements, student program information, and supports conferences, meetings and events.
Responsibilities
Maintain and upload graphics and content on the department\'s website, social media pages, and Appspace digital displays, including faculty information, student resources, department news, workshops, job postings, conferences, and events. Maintain Job Market Candidate web page content. Manage thedepartment\'s social media presence. Create, develop, and maintain individual faculty web pages. Track and record news coverage and recent publications of the department\'s faculty and researchers. Responsible for photography and video coverage for department personnel and events. Provide training on updating websites to faculty, staff, and students. Responsible for writing, editing, designing, and distributing the biannual department newsletter (print and email). Maintain the alumni database to provide an updated address list to the printer of thedepartment newsletter. Provide crisis communication support. Craft and distribute messages on behalf of the Department Chair to faculty, staff, students, and alumni as needed. Provide project management support for department apparel and promotional items. Provide events support, including program design and management, website management, payment portal management, and event signage. Create and maintain registration forms and surveys. Plans, develops and disseminates information designed to keep the public informed of the organization\'s programs, accomplishments, or point of view, with moderate levels of guidance and direction. Accomplishes assigned duties through two or more of the following: written communications; visual/graphic media, which may include Web site development and maintenance; speeches and personal contact. The incumbent is still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills. Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Bachelor\'s degree in journalism, graphic design, marketing, English or related field.
Experience:
Experience working in a university setting. Communications and outreach experience. Comprehensive website and social media experience. Experience with graphic design. Experience in Drupal or similar web management system.
