Position Summary:

Reports to the Deputy Warden of Programs. Responsible for planning, coordinating, developing an individualized reentry plan. Complete all state reentry requirements and maintain compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives.

Essential Functions:

Complete all MDOC reentry documentation, recommendation and referral requirements in the MDOC required timeline. Assist in the implementation of the reentry plan with the assigned case load. Collaborate with pertinent departments within the facility to ensure all aspects of reentry are appropriately addressed. Develop resources within each district where offenders may be released, in order to refer, recommend and connect offenders to available resources. Provide individual and group activities that relate to reentry. Maintain accurate documentation and records. Provide ongoing educational, vocational, personal and social adjustment support on an individual and group basis. Provide direct aid to offenders with personal needs or problems, including sickness, injury, family problems, and other issues, when needed Conduct ongoing evaluation of progress in offender's case plan, and write progress reports document, professionally and appropriately within format design, in offender track. Recommend necessary program modifications throughout each assigned offender's stay. Report to direct line of supervision your recommendation that a mental health assessment/evaluation may be warranted, due to change in offenders' status or behavior. Take remedial action and follow through with all recommendations. Coordinate problem cases and point out areas in which guidance and development techniques can be improved. Maintain documentation and records. Participate in delivery of non-clinical socialization programs, self-help, and education programs as needed. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Maintain accountability of offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in counseling or related field required and one (1) year related experience required.

Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements, if approved by management.

Valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi or Louisiana with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements: Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
