Our marketing team is charged with an important task – sharing our Staples story. We use customer data and analytics to help us understand and improve our customers’ experiences, driving customer retention. Our team is diverse, with skillsets and responsibilities ranging from graphic design, content creation, and performance marketing to internal communications and loyalty & rewards programs. We work together to provide expertise and guidance, so that the Staples brand is well represented in all areas. We are looking for a charismatic Director, Brand Strategy who will be responsible for developing and executing a clear plan that drives relevancy, engagement, acquisition, and growth. As a key member of the marketing team, you will be responsible for defining and elevating our B2B brand’s identity, voice, and market position. This role has substantial impact as we expand our B2B business deeper into key industry verticals, as well as shift perception of the brand as servicing its customers’ needs far beyond just office supplies. The ideal fit joins us with a passion for data and customer-centricity, leveraging deep insights, competitive intelligence, and industry trends to craft compelling narratives that resonate with our current and prospective audiences to drive business growth. You come with a proven track record of building and scaling brands (agency- or brand-side experience), strong leadership skills, and a passion for crafting strategies that align with both short-term goals and long-term success. Duties & Responsibilities Formulate and implement brand strategy for B2B division that aligns with company objectives while driving relevancy and perception change. Enhance this brand strategy with art (intuition) and science (measurement), both built with an extensive knowledge of our customers across categories and verticals. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate the brand strategy seamlessly into all aspects of the business, from customer-facing collateral to initiatives that build internal associate engagement. Measure the brand strategy’s effectiveness against full funnel metrics and ROI; use these metrics to adjust creative and activation, optimizing in a test and learn manner. Present strategic plans and performance reports to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth. Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer-centricity within the team. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or equivalent years of work experience. Master’s Degree in Marketing, Branding, Business Administration, preferred. 8+ years of experience in marketing, brand management, or related disciplines. 6+ years of management experience leading cross-functional marketing teams. Demonstrated ability to engage at the executive level; able to present oneself as strategic, intuitive, and analytical in a high impact manner. Proven track record of developing and executing successful strategies and activations. Demonstrated experience using data to prioritize. Strong analytical skills and experience writing briefs to inform & inspire creative work. Preferred Qualifications Advertising agency or Brand-side experience strongly preferred. Experience in leveraging emerging technologies (e.g., AR/VR, AI-driven personalization) in brand campaigns. Recognized industry certifications or awards related to marketing or brand strategy.
