For over 90 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware has impacted thousands of lives across Delaware. We are the largest licensed provider of childcare in Delaware and the only statewide Boys & Girls Club in the nation.
Each and every day girls and boys are left to find their own recreation and companionship. An increasing number of kids are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to have a place in their community where they can go. Clubs provide a safe haven for youth, allow them to meet with friends and be a part of positive peer groups. Club programs teach life skills, conflict resolution and focus on the development of character. Clubs also provide members with positive role models and a nurturing environment that help improve decision-making skills. Job Summary The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for identifying, cultivating, qualifying, soliciting, and stewarding donors with a goal of expanding the number of leadership and major gifts in New Castle and Kent Counties. This position leads the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program in New Castle & Kent Counties and works collaboratively with Area Directors and Volunteers to renew and increase philanthropic support. This position works in a highly collaborative environment effectively interacting with Club staff, board members, the Resource Development Team, and others to help meet organizational goals. Essential Functions Supports and articulates the organization’s mission, core beliefs, programs, and services in a variety of settings and circumstances. Maintains a portfolio of 150+ donors ensuring timely steps are taken for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to reach an annual fundraising goal. Collaborates with the Marketing Director to develop effective direct mail, email, and social media campaigns including Delaware’s DoMore24 campaign. Develops relationships with Board Members, BGCDE leadership, volunteers, and leadership donors to identify and solicit new prospects. Updates donor records in donor management system and uses technology to identify and manage donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools. Communicates fundraising progress throughout the organization and equips volunteers to reach fundraising goals. Develops and follows an individual fundraising work plan that maximizes time and resources in targeting specific sources of income. Serves as a liaison to community groups and organizations that conduct third-party fundraising events and activities and works with the Event Coordinator to ensure the success of the marquee special events. Increases visibility of Club programs and services and helps ensure that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware is positioned as the premier youth service organization in New Castle & Kent County. Helps ensure a productive working environment, providing support to operations and volunteer leadership on fundraising issues. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned. Qualifications and Education Requirements : Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of effective fundraising strategies and moves management techniques. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. 3-5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit organizations; fundraising, marketing, budgeting, community, and public relations experience strongly preferred. New Castle or Northern Kent County residence and/or network preferred. Strong communication, planning, team building, and organizational skills. Demonstrated leadership and excellent interpersonal skills. High level of proficiency in MS Suite and Donor Management Software. Working Conditions: Meet multiple and concurrent deadlines. Present oneself with a professionally appropriate demeanor and attire. Maintain a high energy level. Frequent travel throughout the state using your own vehicle is required. Reimbursement for Travel expenses included. Work Hours:
Monday – Friday, 8:30-5:00. Flexibility to work periodic evening and weekend hours is required. It is recommended and preferred that the candidate reside in either New Castle County or Northern Kent County. FT Employee Benefits Incentives
