Position Overview: The Data Architect is responsible for ensuring that the data assets of SYD are supported by a data architecture designed to achieve the company's strategic objectives. This role manages data architecture, schema design, databases, data integration, and the technology platforms for data retrieval, reporting, dashboards, and analytics. The Data Architect works with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to create enterprise data standards. In this role, you will be responsible for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data into a data warehouse, ensuring data quality and integrity across various sources. Participates in a team that defines the overall data policy, data standards, and best practices for the enterprise. Ensures the accuracy and accessibility of all significant data. Works with business stakeholders in the creation and maintenance of enterprise data models. Responsible for the documentation of data dictionaries, data models, data drawings, data process flows, and other artifacts. Manages the development of complex data models and logical database design and develops policies, standards, and procedures for the database environment. Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to pull data from multiple sources (e.g., databases, APIs, spreadsheets) into the data warehouse.

Ensure data is accurately transformed, cleaned, and structured according to business needs and reporting standards.

Design, create and maintain SQL database needs for the company.

Design, develop, and maintain APIs to support web and mobile applications.

Support the creation, management, and enhancement of the company's data warehouse

Develop and drive acceptance of an enterprise view of data and its use across the enterprise. Ensure a common vocabulary and understanding of business entities' relationships.

Provide thought leadership for the definition & maintenance of complex enterprise data models, data dictionaries, and master data management

Capture requirements for new data sources, reports, queries, or dashboards.

Develop, improve, and support enterprise data standards and data architecture policies and procedures.

Monitor and enforce compliance with data standards to minimize data redundancies and enhance information quality throughout the organization.

Document the company data dictionaries, architecture, & schema.

Lead the analysis, design, development & implementation of logical data models; physical databases, data conversions, data integrations, query & reporting functions, data management, data governance, and data quality assurance processes

Provide support and consulting for new projects, to ensure that new applications and data stores integrate with overall enterprise and data architectures.

Par icipate in data, data dictionary, and data process flow documentation to create current state and future state documentation, flowcharts, and plans.

Proactively monitor the various data platforms' performance and reliability to identify and resolve issues.

Coordinate any data, middleware, or BI tool license updates/upgrades, as needed, and approved by management.

Participate in the evaluation of BI technology tools that align with our company's objectives and meet the needs of our team members, customers, and/or suppliers.

Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in data or BI technology to identify opportunities for system enhancements and improvements. Participate in virtual user groups and recommend applicable conferences.

Design, develop, test, and implement automated extract, transformation, and load (ETL's) routines using tools such as SQL, Eclipse Basic, Kore, Query. Qualifications:

Experience in a similar data technology role in a company of similar size preferred

Data warehouse architecture, schemas, data mining, data design and implementation

Strong proficiency with SQL and query building between multiple software platforms

Experience in API design and support.

Proficient in BI tools such as Phocas, Power/BI, Tableau, QlikView or Cognos

Proficient in EDW platform, such as AWS, IBM Netezza, Snowflake, Teradata, or Eclipse PDW

Experience in middleware such as Kore, IBM MQ, Apache Hop, Mulesoft

Ability to resolve complex issues related to enterprise-wide data architecture concerns

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong understanding of data architecture methodologies, schemas & frameworks, and their practical application. Additional Information:

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel may be required. Should travel be required a valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required for this position.

Work Shift and Hours: Monday to Friday: 8 AM - 5 or 7 AM - 4 PM
