Purpose The purpose of this role is to develop well-rounded future talent with construction expertise across multi-disciplines - ultimately creating professionals with experience in the full scope of Alternative Procurement. Specifically, this role assists and supports the Project Executives, Business Development and Marketing/Proposals team.

Focus & Scope Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below: Actively supports alternative procurement proposals and preconstruction goals and objectives through completing technical/ administrative projects on time, providing ongoing support, and proactively resolving challenges and issues. Collaborates across department and supports consistent Alternative Procurement practices and administrative procedures. Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards that protect the company's interests. Promotes, and protects Teichert Construction values including diversity, teamwork, fair work environment, and respect of others. Maintains a "team" spirit within the business unit. Works and cooperates with other disciplines (across company lines). Uses resources effectively and efficiently. Promotes and protects the community perception of Teichert. Technical / Specialty Area Completes assignments and tasks on time, accurately, and meets customer expectations. Specifically, collaborates with Project Managers, Superintendents, and/or Estimators, Project Executives, Business Development team, and Marketing Team in circumventing and resolving problems, and ensures adherence to, and maintenance of, company/project policies, procedures, work rules, schedules, and standards. Assists Project Executives in performing material takeoffs via validating work submitted by Take-Off Techs and exercising discretion and judgment with resolving miscalculations and/or job related issues. Specifically, gathers, calculates, and compiles data for use in 30/60/90% plan review and estimates for one or more disciplines. Assists in managing and compiling all documents received from the owner, including but not limited to, plans, specs, and project information sheets. Responsible for distributing documents to all necessary partners, whether internal or external. Assists in developing subcontractor work packages, submitting RFIs, categorizing the risk register, RFI log, assumption log, innovation log, and understanding cost/revenue for preconstruction. Assists and observes contract negotiations for an Agreed to Price and the Risk Register. Provides support, and assists, in coordinating resources for assigned projects. Specifically, quantity take-offs, estimation, data mining for upcoming projects, assists in graphic design on active pursuits. Assists in active pursuits, which includes technical writing, graphics, photo and data mining. PE will assist in proposal strategy, meet with owners and partners discussing upcoming projects. PE will learn and work through Collaborative Delivery's BMPs and develop an understanding of the differences between Progressive Design Build, CMGC, CMAR and best Value. Works with Business Development representative to track down future work examining regional transportation plans, 24 months look ahead, etc. Assists BD rep in utilizing our CRM tool Cosential and survey of future work through tracking in Cosential. Works with the Proposal Manager and their team to develop best practices, strengthen our internal library of data, and update Open Asset. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers. Communicates company and project policies, procedures, and standards. Maintains a favorable impression of the company with external customers through professional and courteous interactions. Completes internal administrative organization responsibilities and documentation, including project logs, files, records, reports and estimates. Develops and creates, submittals, RFIs, contracts, permits, price quotes, purchase orders, work orders, invoices, traffic control plan design, and quantity take-off materials. Assists in developing written Construction Program guidelines relating to Teichert policies. Takes ownership of managing career, professional growth, and contribution to Teichert Construction. Works closely with engineering services, field operations, and estimating on work performance and productivity. Gains exposure, and contributes to, multiple areas of the company. Communicates personal and professional goals and objectives, with the ultimate result of progressing from a Project Engineer into an assistant PX, Preconstruction manager or other related fields. Relationships, Qualification Requirements, & Competencies Key Relationships Reports to: Project Executive Direct reports: None External clients: Material suppliers, equipment suppliers, subcontractors, owners, developers, consultants, private customers, public agencies, state and federal regulatory agencies, A/E representatives Internal clients: Project Executives, Superintendents, Project Managers, Estimators, Estimating Manager, Administrative Manager, Cost Analysts, Business development, Proposal and Marketing staff Role Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, (or related field) or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience Experience & Industry Expertise: Industry experience varies, but typically a PE I, 0-2 years approximately & a PE II, 2-5 years approximately Specific Job Requirements: Successful completion of a pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation Valid Driver's License and the ability to obtain and maintain the required company auto insurance limits. Current on all company required safety training Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts-of-interest Knowledge of drafting and ability to read and interpret blueprints Ability to utilize computer aided systems and equipment to calculate material quantity requirements Knowledge of project management software, HCSS, estimating software Working knowledge of construction equipment, materials, techniques, and required standards applicable to discipline Knowledge of company's Standard Operating Policies and Procedures Occasional overnight travel Competencies Relationship Management Business Acumen Communications Organization and Management People Development Technology: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, AGTEK, SureTrak, HCSS, HeavyBid Technical competence in construction
