JOB SUMMARY
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, performs comprehensive speech and language evaluation of students suspected of having a disability as defined by Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Work involves the administration of tests, assessing student performance from a variety of means, including the use of work samples, psychometrics, and other assessment tools. Counsels with parents, teachers, and administration regarding student performance. Conducts conferences, completes reports, and collects relevant data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Administers a battery of speech and language assessments utilizing all pertinent resources. Administers, analyzes and interprets results of tests. May assist in developing draft Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who require special education and/or related services. May assist in making placement recommendations in consideration of least restrictive environment. Prepares written assessment reports for students summarizing significant findings. Develops and coordinates an evaluation schedule for students recommended for assessment through the IEP process. Conducts follow-up conferences with parents and school staff to assist in making recommendations for further actions. Works with outside agencies to coordinate assessment/evaluation data. Works in concert with the school-based and multi-disciplinary evaluation team. Maintains data including but not limited to the number of students assessed, placed into special education, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education Master's Degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college and university required. Experience Two (2) years successful teaching/therapy experience required. Two (2) years successful experience administering and interpreting informal and formal assessments required. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics Excellent written and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership qualities as a member of a multi-disciplinary assessment team. Ability to use technology (laptops, desktops specialized assessment and data analysis software). Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations. Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred). Licenses and Certifications Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment. Hold or be eligible for Speech and Language Pathologist License issued by Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers and Speech Language Pathologists required. Hold or be eligible for Speech and Language Pathology Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) Certification issued by American Speech-Hearing-Language Association (ASHA) required. Within 10 days, obtain National Provider Identifier (NPI) issued by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) required. Driving Requirements N/A Professional Organization Affiliations or Memberships Employee must retain active enrollment, affiliations, and memberships as a condition of employment. Actively enrolled in Maryland Medicaid required; Upon receipt of NPI, immediate enrollment in Maryland Medicaid required.
