Job Details Manufacturing Reliability Engineer (Principal) The Manufacturing Reliability Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the Clinton equipment and processes operate at optimal levels and meet the needs of the organization. The Manufacturing Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving equipment reliability, optimizing maintenance practices, and enhancing overall operational performance. This position focuses on analyzing equipment and system performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to reduce downtime and improve manufacturing efficiency. The role also involves leading cross-functional teams to drive reliability initiatives, developing predictive maintenance strategies, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Essential Duties: 1. Reliability Improvement: Develop and implement strategies to enhance equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime. (use approaches like risk-based inspection, equipment criticality analysis, reliability centered maintenance to develop the strategy) Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify recurring issues and develop corrective actions. Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment and system uptime. Develop a comprehensive multi-year maintenance improvement plan for the Clinton Site. Preventive and Predictive Maintenance: Design, implement, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Utilize tools like vibration analysis, thermal imaging and other condition monitoring technologies. Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor and analyze equipment performance metrics (e.g., mean time between failures - MTBF, mean time to repair - MTTR). Use data-driven methods to forecast maintenance needs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Analyzes available equipment failure data and develops pathway to collect the data where it is not yet available. Project Management: Lead projects focused on equipment upgrades, system optimizations, and reliability improvements. Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to ensure successful project execution. Training & Leadership: Mentor engineers and maintenance personnel on reliability best practices. Provide technical guidance and serve as a subject matter expert on reliability engineering. Monitor the effectiveness of the maintenance system Development of alternatives and recommendations to plant management for optimizing equipment reliability, including emergency work reviews. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all reliability initiatives comply with safety regulations and quality standards. Support audits and risk assessments related to equipment reliability and maintenance practices. Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)) are a plus. Experience: 7+ years of experience in reliability engineering or a related role in a manufacturing environment. Molding and automated assembly preferred. Proven track record of improving equipment reliability and maintenance practices. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in reliability tools and techniques (e.g., RCA, FMEA, CMMS). Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and tools. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. Experience developing, reviewing, and implementing strategic preventive and predictive maintenance programs and procedures for plant equipment.
