Responsibilities
The Workers' Compensation Specialist will manage Loss Time Complex level claims primarily in the California jurisdiction. This includes:
- Assessing compensability and/or coverage issues for workers’ compensation loss time claims in California, and as required, in other jurisdictions.
- Conducting negotiations and finalizing settlements under management supervision
- Gathering medical and factual evidence
- Coordinating and directing the activities of outside investigation
- Managing outside counsel and litigation within given authority
- Communicating daily with claimants, and/or attorneys, outside investigators, rehabilitation personnel, as well as insureds, medical providers and agents
- Completing timely and efficient claims handling responsibilities
Qualifications
- Prior California Workers' Compensation claims handling experience, along with the ability to learn claims handling procedures in multiple states
- Demonstrates strong organizational, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Displays a proactive and positive approach towards GUARD and the claims department
- Demonstrates the ability to positively contribute to and supports the vision, values, and strategies of the claims department and proven ability to work well in a team environment
- Innovative thinker with strong multitasking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Minimum of High School diploma required or equivalent certificate required; Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Adjuster's License
Salary Range
$65,000 - $110,000 a year
The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required.
The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training. The actual salary may be above or below the range depending on experience, skills, and education.
