IS&S is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively. In this role you will plan and implement activities related to the procurement of Aerospace or other highly regulated materials, goods, and services in compliance with FAR/DFAR regulatory requirements. Additional duties include but are not limited to: Analyze and interpret engineering drawings/schematics to understand the procurement and manufacturing requirements. Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective purchasing. Source and purchase direct materials necessary for operation of the organization. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers. Manage supplier relationships and performance, ensuring compliance with company standards including quality and delivery requirements. Manage MRP part data attribute accuracy. Analyze market trends and conditions to identify potential opportunities and risks. Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of goods and services. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the logistics team to maintain optimal stock levels. Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance. Participate and contribute to departmental and company-wide process improvements and lean initiatives. Sustain success metrics (Delivery, Cost, Lead Time, Inventory, etc.), incorporating best practices, and effectively communicating improvements. Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. Experience in procurement for requirements under a US Government contract subject to FAR 15 requirements. Experience purchasing Aerospace (or other highly regulated industry) parts and/or services in a low to medium volume/high mix environment. MRP Experience. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications: Experience engaging with suppliers and analyzing suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification Cost analysis and negotiation experience Experience and understanding of product specifications, statements of work (SOW), and terms and conditions.
