Developer/Programmer Tampa, FL 12 Months Remote Temp to Perm Working Hours: Standard business hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST), Monday to Friday. •

Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) if converted to permanent, reporting to Tampa, FL (within a 50-mile radius). Looking for a seasoned tech lead who can direct other developers and support the development and maintenance of cost-effective application software utilizing knowledge of tools, concepts, and principles to construct and deliver software in direct support of customer business needs across all internal development platforms. •Interact with business and other Systems department personnel to design, develop and maintain business

applications that effectively support the NYL/Tampa Operations business customers. •Provides recommendations on methodology and development environment improvements. Uses knowledge and experience in solving complex problems. •Performs complex and varied programming, based on specifications, utilizing appropriate development tools, common routines and interfaces using internal development languages (i.e., RPG, Visual Basic, Java, C#, StreamSure, etc.). •Designs, develops, maintains and supports multi-platform application systems to increase productivity and promote reusability. •Develops a sequence of programming steps translating business model specifications into detailed system component specifications, including file design and operating instructions. •Supports the creation of test plans and debugs programs. •Analyzes job requests from user departments for feasibility and impact on current applications systems. •Designs, develops, maintains and supports multi-platform application systems to increase productivity and

promote reusability •Performs other assignments to comply with business strategies and initiatives.

Requirements: •Project Management experience including the ability to coordinate, through the full project life cycle, the efforts of project team members including end-users, vendors and internal systems staff. •Strong analysis and design skills with a focus on system design and flow. •Experience with designing and implementing high volume, mission critical, productions systems. •Must be a team player •Ability to work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. •Experience in a Windows desktop environment. •Must be a self-starter with the ability to learn quickly through on the job experience working with a sense of urgency. •8+ years of development experience in RPG/400, RPG-ILE, RPG Free •8+ years of development experience in CL •Working experience with COBOL •8+ years working experience with Service Programs, ILE Modules, bound programs, binding directories, etc. •Working experience with Aldon (Rocket) Change Management tool •Working experience with IBM WebSphere Development Studio Client (Eclipse) •8+ years working experience in IBM DB2 and SQL •8+ years working experience with exposing iSeries programs for web applications (stored •procedures, web services, etc.) •Leadership skills a plus

Position Overview

The Developer/Programmer will join the Core Solutions team to maintain and enhance the company's policy administration system. The role involves extensive back-end development, supporting batch processing, and ensuring smooth system operations. This is not a leadership role but requires active team collaboration, proactive communication, and adherence to agile project planning.

Key Responsibilities: •Maintain and develop legacy systems and modernize code where necessary. •Collaborate with an 8-person team, with opportunities to engage with other teams. •Participate in code reviews and team meetings. •Communicate effectively with end users and business teams to gather requirements and explain technical solutions in layperson's terms. •Work within an agile framework, adhering to quarterly and yearly project planning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

•RPG Development Experience: 8+ years, including:

o Legacy systems (RPG 400).

o Modern development (RPG ILE & RPG Freeform).

•Systems Knowledge:

o Strong experience with IBM platforms and AS400.

o Familiarity with Golden Rocket change management tools. •

Soft Skills:

o Team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

o Ability to adapt to a team environment, take feedback constructively, and engage proactively.

o Capability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.

Nice-to-Have Skills: •Experience with COBOL programming. •Leadership skills for potential future growth.

Deal Breakers: •Less than 8 years of RPG development experience. •Lack of IBM or AS400 system knowledge. •Inability to work collaboratively within a team. •Inability to commute to Tampa, FL, if converted to a permanent position. •Red flags during interviews (e.g., unprofessional comments or behavior).

Interview Process:

1. Round 1: 30-minute screening interview.

2. Round 2: 60-minute panel interview with the Core Solutions team.

3. Round 3 (if necessary): 60-minute final interview with key stakeholders.

Interview Method: Teams video interviews (camera required).

Additional Notes for Permanent Conversion: •Hybrid schedule: In-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. •On-call [nightly] rotation to monitor systems (not required for contractors).
