We are in a period of unprecedented growth and are seeking a
Network Engineer Access Networks
to support our team out of our
Charlotte, NC
office.
Key Responsibilities Analyzing and designing Fiber-To-The-Premise (FTTP) access networks for ISPs. Implementing network designs for access networks and configuring equipment/related systems. Performing network upgrades and subscriber migrations. Configuring and testing Ethernet circuits. Directly working with ISPs to troubleshoot issues in existing access networks. Documenting and diagramming networks, relevant processes, and troubleshooting steps. Communicate technical concepts clearly and understandably. Keeping up with industry developments, new technologies, and best practices. Improving knowledge and expertise through independent research, practice, and industry-accepted certifications. This is an in-office role working out of our Charlotte, NC, location. This position will require occasional night work. This position will require up to 20% travel. Qualifications
Requires 3-5 years of experience in operating, troubleshooting, and/or designing telecommunication FTTP access networks. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, or similar or equivalent experience. Proficiency with FTTP GPON/XGS-PON/NG-PON2 and Active Ethernet technologies. Understanding of networking concepts and IP networks. Understanding of Carrier Ethernet and MEF concepts. Hands-on experience with access equipment from vendors such as Adtran, Calix, Nokia, DZS, and related element management systems. Experience with DSLAMs and multi-service access platforms is a plus. Network certification is considered a plus. Proficiency with standard operations of Windows-based computers and Office product suite. Good oral and written communication. Ability to work as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to work on multiple projects. Attention to detail and good judgment. Desire to learn and apply what you learn immediately.
